The Director of Resident Services evaluates the interests and needs of independent living residents and coordinates programs and/or services to create a culture that promotes a healthy lifestyle and includes the wellness dimensions of social, intellectual, physical and spiritual.

A few other details about the role:

  • Explore interests and needs of residents. Develop, coordinate, implement and promote programming and services for independent living residents.
  • Ensure resident engagement levels are achieved through quality and hospitality initiatives. Participate in resident committees specific to the department. Maximize resident input in evaluating the program’s success level.
  • Assist residents with transitioning to independent living. Provide emotional support and encouragement towards resident active participation at community programs and events. Facilitate new resident orientation to Community.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervision, training, performance management and corrective action.
  • As requested, provide assistance or referrals for home health, transportation or outside community resources.
  • Participate in care plan conferences as needed.
  • Maintain independent living resident database.
  • Investigate theft\loss reports and collaborate with security to resolve incidents.
  • Policy development and monitoring.
  • Team member engagement, relations, recognition and retention.
  • Budget preparation and forecasting including capital expenditures, cost control, inventory and variance reporting.
  • Ensure event entertainment coordinated for resident programming is within budget parameters.
  • Provide leadership and vision by developing long range and annual plans meeting Lifespace Communities and Community strategic plans. Implement, evaluate and report on progress plans.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace , person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality.
  • Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

And here’s what you need to apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, social services, psychology, sociology or similar field.
  • Eight to ten years of applicable experience.
  • Experience leading a team is preferred.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in computer use, including internet, word and excel.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
  • Ability to efficiently forecast and management annual budget.
