The billing specialist is responsible for residential and private pay billing functions for assigned community at Lifespace Communities, Inc. This includes all aspects of the resident private pay billing and accounts receivable functions.
A few other details about the role:
- Follow-up on outstanding resident receivables (A/R) through a variety of methods.
- Review, post/upload, and reconcile designated invoices and charges in the billing system to generate and submit monthly resident statements.
- Responsible for entering census actions for all levels of living; maintain accurate census data in the healthcare management system.
- Prepare, review and send resident statements.
- Prepare, review and send out collection letters on a set schedule.
- Participate in monthly or quarterly AR reviews with the community teams, providing information on nonpayment of private balances
- Prepare accounts for submission to collection agency per policy guidelines.
- Review and post resident payments on a daily basis.
- Identify trends and provide feedback regarding billing issues and uncollectible accounts on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for following up with private pay residents on past due balances, documenting the activities in accordance with the collection policy; and escalate collection issues.
- Complete work within set deadlines to assure compliance with departmental standards.
- Assist and communicate with residents, team members, management, insurance and others in a courteous and professional manner. Develop a culture of customer service and respect.
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace , person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality. Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
- Position may require some outside travel.
- During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
And here’s what you need to apply:
- High school diploma or equivalency. Associates degree in business administration, accounting or health care administration preferred.
- Skilled nursing, assisted living, or independent living billing knowledge required.
- Three or more years’ experience in private pay resident billing and collections and in private pay cash posting.
- Three or more years experience in a skilled nursing or CCRC.
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
