Lifespace Communities is currently seeking a Personal Care Administrator for Friendship Village of South Hills located in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania. This is a new role for our brand new assisted living and memory care building. This individual must have their assisted living license or have their personal care license and nursing license with the ability to sit for the assisted living test in early March.
The personal care administrator has the twenty four hour (24) responsibility for assisted living and memory care of all residents through the performance of the assisted living and memory care team. The director of assisted living and memory care is responsible for providing a “system of care” for residents in a manner and environment that promotes maintenance or enhancement of each resident's quality of life and provides dignity and respect in full recognition of each resident's individuality.
A few other details about the role:
- Responsible for complete oversight of the new Assisted Living neighborhood including assisting the executive director in maintaining licensure and certification by ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, and provide a positive relationship with representatives of governmental agencies who survey and inspect the community.
- Develop and monitor appropriate budget and level of expenditures, justifying and explaining budget variances as necessary and rectifying variances within facility guidelines and constraints. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the building and make recommendations for improvements. Participate in cost control activities through an organized system of monitoring the utilization of supplies and equipment, evaluating and setting standards for supply and equipment usage.
- Assist in development and implementation of strategies and plans to develop occupancy and census mix.
- Meet with new residents upon admission to introduce self, community, and to review admission packet within 72 hours. Review social history and assessment completion on each Resident upon admission. Aid in family support of residents experience in the community through supportive techniques and conduct family/resident meetings at least quarterly.
- Coordinate and oversee assisted living and memory care programs. Act as a resident advocate and review and complete resident right forms with resident. Attend and participate in resident service plan meetings and formulate necessary resident goals. Counsel residents and responsible parties. Conduct level of care assessments at least quarterly to assess for appropriateness in receiving assisted living services and ensures that service plans address residents’ specific needs.
- Develop and maintain departmental objectives, standards of nursing practice, develop the assisted living and memory care policy and procedure manual, oversee accurate and pertinent documentation for all areas of the program completed timely and in compliance with state and federal requirements. Attend quality assurance and process improvement meetings and provide input to the safety committee as on a regular basis.
- Understand federal and state Medicare/Medicaid rules, regulations and procedures.
- Participate in room-change decisions, prepare residents for transitions and inform families of any changes. Coordinate discharge planning with other interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead all hiring initiatives in addition to the evaluation and performance management of team and provide mentorship and leadership to department. Responsible for successful team member onboarding to the department. Monitor and document performance of team members and utilize appropriate coaching or disciplinary measures as necessary. Provide leadership direction and advise team members on work assignments.
- Responsible for the education and training of assisted living team members regarding new & existing state and federal guidelines.
- Promote and maintain a working relationship with the community health delivery system including residential living and skilled nursing. Maintain familiarity with the community’s Quality Indicator Reports, and ensure that corporate compliance and policy directives are implemented and monitored. Conduct in-service education for team members. Evaluate acceptability of outside private pay admissions. Assist in development of community budget, prepare monthly financial analysis and cash flows and approve purchase orders subject to Board policies.
- Develop, coordinate and implement new techniques, care service objectives and standards for personal care. Regularly examine alternative methods of providing personal care services in order to reduce departmental costs.
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace , person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality. Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
And here’s what you need to apply:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Eight years of applicable experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess state nursing licensure.
- Personal Care Home Administrator license or Pennsylvania assisted living license required.
- Must be able to secure Pennsylvania assisted living license upon hire.
- Experience in assisted living and memory care with geriatric required.
- Experience leading a team is required.
- Must have geriatric experience and sensitivity to their interest and an understanding of their physical limitations, mental abilities and an appreciation for their psycho-social well-being.
- Demonstrate professional manner to effectively deal with families, physicians, and related support groups and relationships. Demonstrate discernment with resident and team member needs. Make solid decisions regarding care, concerns and necessary improvements.
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
- Must be able to act quickly during emergencies, remaining calm and efficient
- The abilities to act with diplomacy, intuition, humor, assurance and decisiveness
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact with the public in a professional manner.
